Sinus Lift At The Warren Smile Center in New Jersey
Teeth are important for daily cosmetic and functional use. Cosmetically, a brilliant smile is attractive. It supports your facial structure, giving definition to your cheeks and lips, as well as making you appear more youthful. Functionally, teeth are the first stage of digestion, breaking down food, so your body can use its nutrients to support your body. Losing your teeth, therefore, can be a huge loss, both to your appearance and your health. Foods you once enjoyed may be impossible to chew. Missing teeth may add years to your appearance that you don’t necessarily feel. If tooth loss is negatively affecting your life, you may want to consider a sinus lift.
How can a sinus lift help me?
Dr. Mark Stein performs sinus lifts at the Warren Smile Center to help patients regain the jawbone density necessary to support dental implants and possibly prevent further tooth loss. Once a patient decides that they will receive a tooth implant, Dr. Stein will ensure that they have adequate jawbone density to support the implant. During the examination, it will be determined if the patient has enough upper jaw bone to place and hold an implant. If there is insufficient bone, Dr Stein will discuss the sinus lift procedure with the patient. Although all surgery comes with some risk and recovery, the success of your dental implants is dependent upon a stable jawbone in order to anchor the implant. Dental implants are permanent, natural-looking, and an excellent, long-term option to replace your missing teeth. Patients who will most benefit from a sinus lift may have the below symptoms:
Signs That You May Befit From A Sinus Lift
Missing teeth from a birth or genetic defect
Losing more than one tooth
Preparing for several dental implants to replace a row of missing teeth
Low jawbone density
What can I expect during my sinus lift?
During surgery, Dr. Stein will create space under the sinus in order to graft the new bone in place. The bone graft itself may consist of synthetic bone or a combination of human and synthetic bone to promote bone growth. Dr. Stein will use x-rays and CT scans to determine what options are best for each individual patient. He will discuss those options with you during your personal consultation. After surgery, patients must allow their jawbone to integrate with the graft and heal. Dental implants are typically implemented 6 to 9 months after sinus lift surgery.
